450 single carb question...

Postby lumbee » Wed Sep 26, 2012 3:04 pm

...hey guys, I have a 450 engine in a 250 scrambler. I am getting close to the first start up. I have a question on the carb. The carb is a Dellorto, and as the number VHB29AD stamped on it.

First, I wanted to verify, that this is indeed the correct carb for the engine. Also, what should the jetting be? I have the stock header with a generic 'dunstall' canister/exhaust. The exhaust has no baffle.

Additionally the carb has no filter on it, and I am planning on adding a pod of some sort. I am assuming I will get better streetability from a pod than a vstack that is wide open.

Any info ya'll can pass along is appreciated. Thanx!

Hi,

on these pages
http://www.ducatimeccanica.com/parti_di_ricambio/pages/partidiricambio0335.htm
and
http://www.ducatimeccanica.com/singles_carb_set_up.html
you will find the desired information.
Without air filter and with open exhaust, the main jet should be 135 or 140.

cheers Hans

____ All 350/450 wide-case models (except Sebring) came with that same carb.model beginning late-1968/early-1969.
