Straight Cut Gears

As anyone experience of fitting "straight cut" primary gears ? is there an improvement in performance etc , and what would be the disadvantages if any.

The stated advantage is less friction from side thrust induced by helical cut gears. The trade-off is more noise. It seems like a lot of expense for a little gain in efficiency.
