Thought some of you might enjoy pictures from a couple of 'ran when I took it apart' heads I bought. Most of the parts are in worse condition than the cams and rockers. Plus, one of the rocker shafts was installed threaded end first- had to silver solder a washer and nut onto the shaft to get it out far enough to weld a bigger nut on it and pull the shaft out.
The good news is that while searching for 175/200 parts I've bought a big pile of 250/350/450 parts in great shape, so not a waste of time.
I've decided to shift the decimal point to the right on the budget for my 175/200 project.
I don't want to sound superior, or make fun of anyone, but you'd think these engines would have given some indication that they needed attention.
I'm off tomorrow to look at another pile of abandoned Ducati parts.

Practically everything I find that's any good comes from guys I've known through bevel twins- when I tell them I'm building a single they usually find a box of parts in the back of a shed and I trade them some twin parts. Around here lots of these bikes were used to run around the farm, for work and play- when they wouldn't start they were abandoned. I also know some guys who raced singles, but lots of their parts are in poor shape. These rocker arms came from a farm bike- some kids probably rode it to death, but they had fun on the bike- probably more fun than most collectors will ever have.

It came out of a 200 head- hope most Norton owners don't run their engines out of oil.
