Yes Airman Blue. The bike has gone to a new home in the uk now. It was a pleasure to be able to help a little to get the machine together and running . A gem.

Thought it must have been the same person, I have spoken to him at Snetterton and Mallory and admired that beautiful little machine, he did let me sit on it and go vroom vroom.

Air scoops look nice, but watch out in wet weather.
My Grimeca 4LS brake scared me once when caught in a shower, and it became almost zero effective as a retarder.
I cut up a black plastic oil container and made blanking plates to stop water (and air!) getting through the scoops.
Stuck in place with polyurethane adhesive, they aren't visible from outside.
I don't notice any heat related ill effect, not surprising the way I ride.

My brakes only begin to work well once hot ! , Only realised this after I went a bit beserk and overtook some Manx Nortons at Jurby and left the braking a bit late ! . It used to be a race bike and still thinks it is.

Yes Jordan, water in the brake, is not a good arrangement. Many years ago my Goldstar had been standing out in the rain on the prop stand, resulting" unbeknown to me " with a considerable amount of water entering the drum. On setting off I did not use the brake until I came to a tee junction, I shot out straight across both lanes of the main road. Fortunately the road was clear both ways, a bit of a ring tightener at the time, as they say.
The large Scoop was really only done for aesthetic reasons, likewise I can't imagine at my time of life I will be requiring a tremendous amount of front brake cooling. Your suggestion re closing off the vent would seem to be sensible idea.
Drum brakes and their performance are a bit unpredictable Bob. I have never used the type of linings which are fitted before, I know the chap who fits them really well, and he advised they would be best suited for my requirements, only time will tell.

Oh, yes, how very lovely! The introductory passage in my 750 gt manual states: "....engineering practice at its finest...." and your engine is a great example!
