Just an update, I now have Samarin rod kits in stock.
I have inspected one of the 30mm rod kits and all checked out okay. Variation in diameter over the pin bearing area was within 2 or 3 microns and maximum variation in the big end eye 6 microns ( approx 2 1/2 tenths). My conclusion is that the rod I measured was dimensionally far superior to pattern rods of old from Italy and probably comparable or better than original. As Eldert mentioned a few marks here and there on the rod shank, but nothing that's a functional issue. Accuracy not as good as my Arrow kits, but then they are a fraction of the price.
I will also add most Carrillo rods for Ducati I have measured have 6 or 7 tenths variation when new. Maybe I should not mention that many used Carrillo rods have 1.5 thou variation in the big end eye, that's 38 microns!! Okay this obviously doesn't mean Samarins rods are compatible strength wise, but I mention it more as a comparison for perceived quality.
Clearance is on the tight side, at about 0.015 to 0.02mm ( 6 to 8 tenths). That is very comparable to original kit clearance and perfectly acceptable for road use.
Bearing is 30/38/18 and has 18 x 4mm rollers. The cage is silver plated steel, similar to the bearing I use for my Arrow kits, just with one less roller (but same amount of rollers as original)
So, so far so good. Looks like an affordable replacement for road use. I'm sure they will find their way into race engines.............
I will hopefully be extending the kits to include 125/160 soon and hopefully if all goes well commission some N/C 250/350 kits.

I have the details for a Mototrans rod, pin and bearings set from Samarin:-
DU-251ECM . Ducati 175cc-200cc-250cc . Special machined crank with competition silver cage. All our connecting rods are supplied complete: (connecting rod, piston cage, crankshaft cage, crankshaft pin and washers)
As far as I can ascertain, for my Spanish Elite, there is the choice of this or the recambiousado one. The former uses a straight 27mm crankpin and the latter a stepped one as originally fitted. There are likely to be weight differences between the two.
I can see no problem with fitting either but then, I'm not a crank builder. I also wonder about vibration. Any experience thoughts or advice before I press an order button would be gratefully received. The Elite is being rebuilt as a restoration of a standard bike.

What type was fitted to your crank originally? It would be easier to stick to the original pin, or you will have to have the crank rebalanced I believe. Hopefully Nigel or Eldert will see this and comment.

BTW, the only Ducati rod kit that is listed on the Samarin web site is for a 50cc.

I know its a bit late but I bought the Samarin kit (and a new Omega oversize piston kit) from Lacey Ducati summer 2019 and had the crank put together by a Laverda specialist in Glasgow, he also had the rebore done.
Both these kits look top class and of course lacey Ducati were very helpful with advice.
Engine was assembled and I've tried the bike summer 2019. The bike has a total cut out around 5000rpm but I will be replacing the original ducati eletronica ign with a standard points setup i've already bought. Can't wait to get it firing evenly all the way, roll on spring time.
