Hi Rocla, It is possible to set the top bevels with the head off, the shaft tunnel needs to be installed to the head and the shaft centralised in the tunnel with a bush or 1/2 inch drive socket or similar. The bottom bevel bearing holder can usually be moved up by tapping the center of the gear from below with a drift/alloy punch, and then levered out with care, heat the case can help.

Re: Noise issues on 350 Scrambler engine
Hi Bob,
I've succeed in moving the bearing housing without the tool but anyway, a problem remains: how to move the vertical pinion? The crankshaft axle empedes that, by few in fact. I think it requires to remove metal from the right engine housing, just 1 cm. Do you confirm?
Anyway, I've started a new topic, I think it deserves that...

Hi , If you remove the circlip the bush comes up,leaving the gear( and its shims) in the case ,it can be fiddled out (if i remember right !) once the bush is out.Dont damage the cases!.If not perhaps it can stay in.

No, there is no space enough. It was confirmed by a oldtimer Ducati specialist... (goto the new topic)
