PM.comunication-option for/with DCT.Bob

You have a PM

____ I actually have an untold number of PMs ! ...
My PM.inbox has been overrun since late 2010, as I then gave-up trying to keep it empty enough to take-in more PMs. _ And since then, it would take too much time & trouble for me to bother with trying to empty it out so that other newer PMs could then be opened & read.
Last I checked, the number of PMs still awaiting to get into my inbox, exceeded the number which it's able to hold,, so I think it's jammed-up.
__ I've before asked that PMs be entirely merely concerning MORE-personal matters only, and that any inquiries concerning Duc.singles be rather presented through the forum ONLY. _ But still, sharable inquires continued to come by PM instead, anyhow.
So I've given-out my email-address for communications which are rather more personal in nature. _ So whenever that's the case,, then please (everyone), email me at robhan548 @hotmail.com - (the empty-space just before the '@', is so that my e.address is-not recognized by a bot-scanner which could otherwise pick-up on email-addresses,, so ignore that space when entering my e.address).

Duke-Cheers,
-Bob

Single-junk,
Have you considered replacing your cylinder liner with a new one of standard size?
You could then have it sized to your existing piston and rings.(either way your'e going to have machine work done)
A liner is less expensive to purchase than a piston kit.
The liner can be easily removed and replaced within the aluminum cylinder fairly easily in an oven at 410 degrees. I can walk you through that process, if need be.
Just a thought...

____ I-myself really don't think so, (unless you also have other parts issues which happen to be considerably more bothersome).
____ Besides NOS.piston-kits in a number of various over-sizes (up to 75.25mm), I also have quite a few used/usable bare-pistons (probably including the 74.4 & 74.6mm sizes), which I may consider swapping for your 74.25mm-piston, (with YOU paying for ALL shipping-costs both ways).
I also have new ring-sets which could be fitted to the bare pistons, but you'd need to install new circlip/p.pin-retainers.

Hopeful-Cheers,
DCT-Bob

I'd gladly trade you mine for a used 74.4 and get some rings, as I think i'll go with my good cylinder, and I have no use for a 74.25.

Would you like to discuss the details via email?

Interesting idea, but as I have no rings anyhow, I think getting the right used piston with rings would work out the easiest for me.

____ While I'm not yet absolutely-sure that I do indeed have a good used 74.4mm-piston, I really don't think that I certainly happen to have any new 74.4mm ring-sets, but I'm rather sure I do have 74.5mm-NOS.ring-sets which should fit close enough, (however if the end-resulting ring-gap is too small for meeting the recommended gap-spec, then no more than .012" may need to be filed-off from the ring-tips).
__ It may be a few days before I can get my-body around to checking the dia.sizes within the collection of used 250-pistons I'd have to go-through,, as it's been quite extra cold around here lately, and my hands are unable to hold-on to things once they get exposed to any coldness (even after just a few minutes), and the piston-collection is stored in my basement where it's been kept just above the freezing-point.

No big rush, look into it whenever you can. If you can't find a used one, then I'd be interested in buying a NOS set.

Unusually cold winter this year.. I'm not too far away from you, in southern Ontario. Gotta love that lake effect weather!

____ As I recall, last I checked,, I think I happen to still have one 74.4mm 4-ring NOS.piston-kit left amongst my stock of NOS.parts. _ But of-course that won't be as near as economical for you as the used-piston swap-deal !

" I'm not too far away from you, in southern Ontario. "

____ That relatively short distance really ought-to keep your shipping-costs relatively low, however it may still likely cost more than if rather shipped clear-across the whole entire USA coast to coast, due-to the mere hand-off between our closely neighboring countries. _ Too-bad about that added factor, (I had thought you were here within the US.).

" No big rush, look into it whenever you can. "

____ I really hope to do so by the end of next-week's (supposedly) coming warm-up period, (when the powers-that-be finally allow us another break from the weather extremes [like today's -3F., which is a record-low right-here next to Lake Michigan] ).

" Unusually cold winter this year.. Gotta love that lake effect weather! "

____ So YOU are blaming our usual normal "lake effect weather" ? ... THAT-effect, I-myself have had over 6-decades to get used-to,, but haven't you heard-of what the deal is with the colder-weather (at-least since our rather cooler last-summer) ?
It's really way TOO-far OFF-topic to discuss any further here ! _ But here's a link to a related web.site* on the matter concerning our rather unusually-freaky weather-situation, (* which most everyone ought-to find to be of some degree of interest !). - http://www.geoengineeringwatch.org/chem ... hat-is-it/

Piston-search

" still having troubles with your email account..? "

____ SORRY! - I believe I had given you my old MSN/hotmail-e.address -(robhan548), which MSN since required excessive security updating that became a lot of trouble to get accomplished,, so I've gotten a new e.address -(BobHansn.5-1948 @ netzero.com), and now hardly-ever try to check my old-e.address inbox, (although MSN has informed me that it has finally become all completely updated).
__ Have you more recently sent me any newer emails, for me to look-for within my MSN.hotmail-inbox, that still have yet to-be replied-to ?

" any luck with finding a 74.4? "

____ I now just might really need luck, cuz a couple of friends wanted to move most-all of my DUCATI-parts to another location (which is no-longer so nicely 'stocked' & organized as I used-to have them for decades) ! _ Now most-everything is un-shelved & packed in boxes & piled-up together and still left unsorted. _ And considering my deteriorated-(RA.)-health, I really need help to go-through stuff to find much of anything. _ However I just happen to have help coming-over tomorrow, so-then I'll definitely add a search to my list of things to-be helped-out with !
__ I hadn't completely forgotten about your request, since you're not the only one who's waiting for me to check my piston & rings stock-pile ! _ And I kick myself in the head every-time it crosses my mind that I still have yet to get my intended search completed.
Hopefully I'll have found-out some answers to post here within 3-days, before this weekend breaks into Monday !
