Front guard mounting,
The parts book shows spacers between the underside of the lower triple clamp and the guard mounting bracket, can someone tell me what size these spacers are please?
And are the 4 hex bolts that mount the guard bracket 7mm?
Thanks
Graeme

Re: RT Rebuild and questions
Eldert, may I ask you to measure the thickness of your bottom triple clamp please.
Mine is 32mm thick, plus 22mm for the alloy spacers is 54mm plus the bracket and washers and the lylock nut, the bolts would need to be close to 70mm long not 45mm??????
I wouldn't be surprised if the triple clamp on this RT isn't original.
Regards
Graeme

Re: RT Rebuild and questions
The top looks the same, the lower looks the same, except the underside of the 4 holes is built up compared to yours.

The rest looks the same

I will reduce the spacers.
How far is the guard bracket away from the underside of the triple clamp?
If your holes are 13mm plus 22mm spacers, = 35mm from the top of the lower clamp? (about 3mm spacers in my case)
Regards
Graeme

Re: RT Rebuild and questions
Sorry, next question,
Is this footpeg bracket bent or are they supposed to be on and upward angle like this?
It would take a lot of force to bend the cast steel bracket I would think. And a fair bit of heat to straighten it.

The right side is up but not this much.

Hi Greame
on both my RTs the footrest are straight . your footrests look like Scrambler items to me
a RT footrest is round metal with a little plate welded on top

Re: RT Rebuild and questions
Hello Eldert,
The parts manual shows the foot pegs as you have described and the round type I have but without the round rubber that came with my US RT.
I bought new rubbers to fit to the round pegs, part number 170 for left and right.
The flat type shows part no. 285 left and 185 right.
Another case of what was on the parts shelf is what was fitted?
But you said they were level which is what I needed to know, thanks.
