Thanks everyone for your advice, it seems the narrow case spring is available from various suppliers .....but......some of them seem to suggest that the wide case spring is the same??? has anyone a narrow case spring you could measure for me? Graeme has given me the measurements for the std. wide case spring (which is obviously what I need) ......but.......if the narrow case one is close enough? problem solved.
Cheers,
George

Re: centre stand woes
Hi George,
This wide case spring and this narrow case spring both have 37 coils, I suspect the wide case one has the best chance of being an original one. Also both of the narrow case springs I have seem to be the same. I can't measure the length of these, in place they're stretched out a bit.
Next, the new spring I have also has 37 coils, but I don't know what it's intended application is, I didn't buy it...
The photo with the spring stretched out straight is the wide case one.

Re: centre stand woes
Hi George,
They are different part numbers, which usually means something. Possibly a vee twin one would fit, but unless you try it..... The difference may be in length, and although a shorter one may be made to fit, it could be a struggle to get it on.
Cheers,
Colin

Re: centre stand woes
Hi Bruce, thanks for that.....very useful information, I suspect a spring of around 100mm total length x 15mm dia. x 2.5 ish mm wire dia. will probably be suitable enough, so I will just risk buying a generic centre stand spring of Ebay and see how that does?.

George

Thanks Colin,
You are right on all counts, I know all the tricks to get a centre stand spring on.....and that's what broke my existing one......through old age and over stretching (the spring, not me....or maybe me too
)
