Applause ;)

Please, report if voltage regulating and battery charging work well.

cheers Hans

Throughout the course of this discussion there is no mention of the red wire from the alternator. With the bridge rectifier currently on the bike, the red wire is not used. The schematic of the 6 volt system shown previously shows the red wire connected to the same terminal on the regulator that is connected to the battery. I'm assuming that with the 12 volt Chinese R/R that the red wire from the alternator is abandoned. Is that correct?

Again you got it right! Leave the red wire from the alternator unused, and keep the Faston terminal safely away from any conductive bike part, by insulating it properly a,nd fixating it with a ty-wrap.

Not correct - please re-read the thread.

You are correct. My apology. Ducwiz has been precise in his instruction as has all who have contributed to this thread. I will never be proficient in the workings of electrical systems but, at least, I now know which wire is connected to which terminal and changing to 12 volt should be advantageous. Thank you all.

Since I no longer have an ignition switch but rather a simple toggle switch to supply power to the coil from the battery, does the black wire from the Chinese 12 volt substitute power to the coil or do both the black wire and existing power from the battery (via toggle) connect together to the positive terminal of the coil? Not sure what exactly the function of the black wire is.

No! It is the "sense" input of the R-R, same as the "marrone" terminal on the original Ducati 6V R-R. You will connect it to the coil sided terminal of your toggle switch.

Thank you again Hans. I think that does it but I've said that before.Waiting on my 12 volt battery.
