Next piece of the puzzle is what font text ball in the selectric? Maybe there's a catalog of font types available. I have a few text balls but not the same font as frame tags. MW

The popular opinion seems to be the foil tags are not reliable nor credible in any identification. Upload some picks of the frame. Things like a boss for horn mount and side box box mounts are useful in identifying the model. IMHO.

Certainly frame tags (even original tags) can be removed and stuck on different bikes. And with the advent of replica tags, if one doesn't know how to identify as such, tags can be misleading. But, if the tag and the features of the bike agree and the tag appears to be installed on the chassis to which it was originally assigned, they can provide a very interesting piece of the puzzle. A bike without the tag can certainly be identified by other means but if an original tag agrees with the specification, it's another way to verify the provenence of a particular bike. MW
