I had a similar issue with mine and it was largely down to flex in the connecting rod. Yours is much longer than mine and would probably flex more. Fixed mine with a larger diameter connecting rod that eliminated the flex.

Hi Graeme, I'm inclined to agree with Ian, I also had an engagement issue with my 350 when I converted it to rearsets many years ago using a 6mm connecting rod.......too much flex...... changed to 10mm tube and it was fixed, might be worth a try? also have you got a 'straight' alignment between the pedal and the engine gear lever?

Thank you all for the advice, I appreciate it.
I changed the front rose joint to a clevis.
The other end is LH thread and both clevis are RH thread.
So it is a lot better to get 1st and 2nd
