Jordan, that's a nice bit of work there I have modded flexi drive cables quite a few times but in a completely different way I degrease the end to square then flux it and tin with solder and then file the end into a square form......maybe a bit of a 'bodge' way to do it, but it has worked for me, as long as you make the squared end a precise sliding fit into the instrument (or driver) because there shouldn't be much of a load on the cable the soft soldered end seems to last ok.
