So using the formula of educated guess I cut 35mm out of each leg of the centre stand and welded it all back together again......complete success :D .....instead of the back wheel being 3 inch's of the ground its now 3/4 of an inch, and the bike for the first time in 50 years is now quite easy to pull on the stand.......why did I not do this years ago . Thanks all for advice.
Cheers,
George

As a new installment of all the above.........after all the messing about sorting out my centre stand problem the bl**dy spring has just broken :x so seems a bit hard to get one, does anyone know if the narrow case spring is the same as the wide case one I can get a narrow case one but not the other, or does anyone know the dimensions of either, I can't measure mine because it has broken a couple of times over the years and I have just managed to bend out the next loop to keep it working so its shorter than std......which is why it has just broken again .

Hello George.

Measure the spring on my ‘74 Desmo center stand.

Wire diameter is 2.5 mm
Diameter of coil is 15mm
36 coils
132 mm long with the stand down. (Not including the loops at each end)

Hope this helps

Aye George,

If MdinaItalia's offering is for the V-twin rather than a single and there are differences in the srpring wire diameter, number of coils, length etc, then maybe a trawl through this selection might be helpful to you and others on the forum looking for replacement springs?
