Regarding tires:

If you are in North America Don't be afraid to search for tires outisde the country. They ship pretty cheap and are highely unlikely to be stolen or damaged in transit.

The rest of the world uses many more tire sizes than what are available in NA. I think the tires that are on my Ducati 250 are Michelins that were made for the Taiwanse market but went to a stocking distributor Australia. Back when I bought the tires the USD was 2-to-1 on the AUD and I got a set of two tires plus shipping from Australia to Illinois for well under $100.

The thing I recommend you to do is to not to think in North American English; When you get on Google or Bing use the search term "tyre" as opposed to "tire." You might find the tire (tyre) sizes from the 1960s are still readily available.

I'm diggin' the spirit of cheap! I was able to find Bridgestone S11 tires in the correct sizes. I also adapted VW points to fit the plate on my NC without too much trouble- I think they were $12 at the auto parts store. For the tank latch, I just used an O-ring attached to the front of the seat.

Not sure what year I asked for- just points for a 12V Bug. With the possible exception of the earlier 6V systems, I think points for Bugs were all the same. They're fairly common- I used to run 'em in Formula Ford racecars as well.
