If only the seat is leaking, why is it burning oil? Shouldn't burn oil unless the guide is loose or the stem seal torn. As the head if off already, I would also take a close look at your compression rings.

Right. The bike doesn't smoke when running although the plug was blackened and I do see a little oil on the spark plug after kicking it over. Since the piston and rings are new, although installed a while ago, they may have not had enough time to seat. The guides and valve seals are also new but the valves are original. There wasn't any slop when I installed them in the new guides. It's probably wise to install new valves if I am going through the trouble of getting the seats refurbished.
