Re: Mach 1S Connecting rod bearings
If Jonathan White or Malcolme Tunstall can’t help you, Alpha bearings (http://www.alpha-bearings.com/) might be able to make a custom pin but they want you to send them the worn parts to make sure everything fits properly. Also, Carlo Leoncini (http://www.motofficinaleoncini.it/) does some nice work for bevel singles. Probably other sources in Italy. If you can track down Rino Leoni, he’d probably be about your best chance of finding original parts but that’s unlikely. Matt

Re: Mach 1S Connecting rod bearings
on the 32 X 39 X 18 bearing the rollers are 3.5 x 13.8 mm
i think longer rollers are available like 15.8 and 17.8 mm
can you re use your rod if you have a new pin made ?

Re: Mach 1S Connecting rod bearings
Matt and Eldert,
Thanks for the information. From my talk with Malcolme it sounded like he wasn't worried about the rod.
SKF lists 3.5 diameter rollers in 15.8 and 17.8 mm length. I need to check with Malcolme to see if he meant exactly 17 mm (and perhaps I misunderstood him).

Re: Mach 1S Connecting rod bearings
Eldert,
Malcolme has confirmed that the rollers are 17 mm long. I've not found any production rollers this length. If you know of any let me know. I'm currently thinking about sourcing a standard narrow case crank/rod and running with that. later could go to something like a custom width Arrow rod from Nigel.
Regards,
Phil

Hi Phil
i had Arrow make some 20 mm wide rods for the narrow crankcase . i used a 32 X 40 X 20 bigend bearing from a KTM 450
i could sell you one that only leaves you with a custom bigendpin to be made

Re: Mach 1S Connecting rod bearings
Eldert,
Thank you,
I'm currently leaning towards finding a standard production narrow case crank assembly and installing that. It would be robust enough for my use. Then later I can decide how to proceed with the current parts.

Phi
