All winter long they've been going for around $75 for just a bare, rusty centerstand and up to $100+ for a nicley painted one with pivot and spring. I've been watching for awhile and finally decided to pony up as my bike is finally coming together. Make sure you get the narrowcase one - widecase centerstands are different.

well the check was mailed yesterday against slightly better and nervous judgement.. this guy is very hard to get in touch with but he associates it with work. One would think emails or a phone call at night could be done but still.. crossing my fingers.. hope it doesnt end up becomming an issue with a shipper and timing.. cross your fingers for me... if this doesnt work out it will be a while before i take a leap of faith like this again

I remember when I bought my bike from the east coast - seemed like it took forever to get here. Like a kid waiting for Xmas.
Congrats and enjoy.

Pete sorry about not getting in touch. I will get the vin information to you asap. The shipper gave me an eta of delivery for the 4th and the next morning i received an email from the seller asking if the bike would ever be picked up. Turns out the shipper gave him a call 15 minutes before pickup. He said he slid the sidecover back on the motor but something tells me while on the road it will most likely come off again. Either way cant wait for the bike and see what possible suprises i run into once i start taking her apart.

Just signed up. Hoping the best for you, Mike. You'll have a good amount of hunting and work to do but hey, you've got one! I never get upset when I see the high dollar singles knowing mine are "plain old Monza/Sebrings". I purposely found mine as such since I was much younger and had less money. The bug bit me around 1986-7. Even then the Dianas and Mark 3's ,etc. were commanding too much money. Enjoy your project. I'm guessing you'll actually ride your ,like mine when I'm done. Hoping you don't throw tons of money at it and stick in your living room as art. That's very cool too,but not my intention.
I'm kind of excited for you too. Been through the waiting for the transporter to show up with cars. Back in the prehistoric days of no internet and only Hemmings or bike mags I also waited for UPS to show up with a frame ,etc. after sending a check to a guy I barely had contact with.
Cheers!
Paul

oh I was initially damn excited to get the bike but working with this shipper is taking the fun out of it. Almost zero contact. I would have never known if the bike was picked or when it was to be picked up unless the seller kept me informed as he had a 15 minute notice before pickup. In regards to drop off it is approaching the 15 day delivery limit that they had on there guaranteed uship profile so still no notice and not picking up the phone. I will be so to say "happy" when it gets here just knowing it made it.
I am looking into alum wheels right now and just amazed at all the styles as well as inner profile differences where the bead sits and the spoke area so this should be a learning experience to say the least.

I hear ya. I had a similar experience in shipping mine. Zero information from the shipping co. They also had the nerve to send me a nasty email when I pushed them on it.
It will soon be forgotten when she shows up. Keep the faith.

I have been looking at alloy rims as well since my chrome stockers have some rust issues. I heard that the Italian (Borrani) rims are pretty soft - can't confirm that.

The Spainish (Akront) rims are suposed to be better.

Buchanans has the Excel alum shouldered rims. That is the direction I am leaning.
