450 Mark 3 Special

Postby PhilA » Sat Apr 20, 2013 9:03 am

I'd read about these in some of Mick Walker's books but only saw one just recently:

Hi Phil,
I had heard of this model but not seen one.
The tank looks like a later steel (yellow) tank with the more pointed front and weld seems. Unlike the Shotguns more rounded front and lack of seems of the glass tank.????

Was this fibreglass tank copied from the steel tanks of the later Yellow bikes?
It looks like the same shape as the Yellow (and Blue/Gold M3) tanks?

I think it was the other way around as the 450 Special predates the '73/'74 models as far as I can make out.

As the great Ian G has said,,, "You have stumbled on another corollary of the eternal mystery"

Thanks for the pictures Phil, very interesting.
