Ok, I give up - what is the trick to removing the tank hold down bracket. This one appears to be particularly tight, and just grabbing it and pulling up does not seem to work.
Thanks,
Tony

Mine's real tight too. I will loop a nylon cable tie through the slot on the hold-down I am not going to use and close the cable tie, then pull up on the cable tie to lift the hold down over the tank hook.
It's still a PITA but less risky to the tank paint than sticking a pliers between the seat and tank to try and pinch the hold-down and lift it.

" what is the trick to removing the tank hold down bracket. "
____ Well there really is actually a "trick" to it ! ...
__ When I was a teenager, I had then come-up with some method (with the use of vice-grips & a screwdriver with it's tip slightly hooked), which worked well-enough for me (but still wasn't real-easy to get done), however I've since forgotten exactly what my particular procedure was back-then.
And it's just as well that I've forgotten about that because, I later (about 1969) came-up with another method that was so much easier, that I felt I had been pretty-stupid for not realizing it much sooner !
__ Anyhow, while this best-method seems to be too involved,, once you realize how difficult it actually is to get it accomplished the way which looks to be the quickest-way, you will then learn that the following method is actually the choice method to follow.
__ First, the two bolts at the front of the tank have to be taken-out, then ya lift the front of the tank upward so that the pressure on that hold-down spring is then much lessened,, and then the spring/bracket-clip can be easily slid right-off the tank's hook (which is also then at an easier angle for doing so).
The reverse of that procedure also makes getting it all back-together a cinch !
__ Try it, you'll like it (better than the more-obvious/more-frustrating ways) !
Duke-Cheers,
-Bob

Tony, If this is a Diana/MkIII type tank, do you have the tank hold down hook installed? Can't tell by your pic. These are often missing. See ebay auction 290628479761 for what the hook looks like. I think Joe Carter may have these hooks as well (eurotrashjambalaya). Matt

Re: removal and install of the NC singles tank hold down
Jim & Bob,
Well, I had good fortune on this, using both ideas, here's what I did:
As Bob suggested, taking out the tank ear screws and lifting up on the front of the tank did remove most of the pressure from the rear spring latch. I still had some pressure on the latch, since I was not able to lift the front of the tank up a lot, since it bumped into the top triple tree bracket. So, I put a nylon tie strap on the loop of the spring and was able to lift it off the tank hook ! No scratches on the tank.
Thanks for the advices.
Matt - that's for the tip. I do have the latch with the j-hook for the frame, so I am all set there.
No onto figuring our why I gots no spark, which is why I needed to remove the tank on this 100 Sport.

While you try to figure out why you have no spark on your 100 Sport, the rest of us will attempt to figure out why we each don't have a 100 Sport, where each of us might find one, and how we might pay for it.
Kind of makes your challenge seem simple in comparison...
