stainless head bolts

Postby flynbulldog » Wed Apr 18, 2012 4:33 am

I'm in need of a set of head bolts for my 250NC. The only option I can find right now are a set of stainless bolts offered by some company that sells stuff on Ebay.
I know that head bolts need to have a certain elasticity and mild steel will stretch much more than stainless and in fact stainless is brittle and may be completely unsuitable
for this purpose. I wonder what some of you guys think, is stainless gonna do the job in this case or is it simply the wrong material for the job.
I think its the wrong choice but right now I don't see any other option. suggestions?

Stainless is brittle, it wont stretch and hold tension. If there's no tension they wont stay tight.
