Anybody know which way the bevel bearing in the head comes out? Looks like down (away from the bevel cover), but I want to be sure before I force it the wrong way...
Much thanks!

Hi Jim
this bearing sits in a housing . that housing has a small colller on the bottom so the only way out is down

Thanks Eldert. Does the housing come out with the bearing?

Re: Remove this bearing up or down?
I've heard that this bearing housing can sometimes be a cause of noise, due to movement. Reportedly, it loses its interference fit in the head.
So, being careful with it might pay. Heat the head before removing the bearing housing. Heat again to refit, and lubricate before.
If you have a mystery top end noise - this could be the cause?
