1969 mark3d paint

Postby desmodutch379 » Sun Dec 11, 2011 8:29 pm

Starting a restoration and wondering if anybody knows what modern paint (color and code )comes closest to the (candy)red color I see on that model
I am also a little confused about the tank? I have chrome on the sides but it is more than most tanks I see in photos? Also some have a painted silver. Any feed back or information on tank paint and chrome work would help.do you chrome the entire tank and paint over the area you want the paint?

http://www.italian-motorbikes.com has a tab for paint codes from Lecher (look under "spare parts"). Might be of some use. The N/C Monza tanks have a chrome stripe as well. Looks like the tank is suspended in the chroming tank from the front mount but it's only chromed as far forward as the chrome stripe goes rather than plating the entire tank. Only the area where the chrome is exposed is highly polished since the rest of the tank will be painted. I imagine it's the same process for the W/C Mk3 tanks. MW
