From what I've read so far, I gather it seems you're of the rare type of biker who's able to realize the enchanting uniqueness of these particular top Italian-machines, and seem to indeed possess the Ducati-gene to become a full-fledged Duker.
__ I'm wondering how you had come to acquire all your old Duke-stuff ?

Thanks Bob,

Kind of a long story on how we got them....

During that time my brother was riding a monster 900.
At some point, my mother was talking to someone about it, and it came about that they knew someone, who knew someone, that had some older Ducati's.
It turns out that the gentleman with the bikes was kind of a nutter, and was interested in selling off what he had.
So my brother and I drove over to see him and what he was interested in selling.
Big brother was really looking for some desmo stuff, only to be kind of disappointed by a pile of springers .
When I say a pile, I mean a pile.
All the stuff we bought was in a small barn, which was rotten and falling down.
Filled with junk. Beds, old clothes, bicycles, and yes literally kitchen sinks!
But amidst all the junk was some cool stuff, that we bought for $800.
Probably a bit too much at the time, and maybe even now, I don't really know.
But we liked the stuff and brought it home.
Turns out the guy was an old flat track racer, from back in the day, which might account for some of the modifications on these bikes.
His name is/was Dave. :D
Thats all I can remember.
Definitely an interesting experience meeting him.
The stuff was stored in a back room at my dads since then.

Hi Karl,

Nice “pile” you have there, lots of good bits. You’ve identified the 450 scrambler, or “Jupiter” I believe they were called. That probably would have had aDellorto VHB carb originally. If the SS1 you have is an SS127A, that would go on the early 250 scrambler. The 250 scrambler is an early 4-speed based on what I can see in your pic (“DM250” on right side case identifies this as a ball bearing countershaft 4-speed, as well as the early Campagnolo rear hub). The other W/C frame is an early version since it doesn’t have the additional curved frame tube linking the engine mount plate to the subframe (your 450 has this tube). These frames were prone to cracking the frame tubes right above the motor mount, hence the addition of the additional tube to strengthen this point. Rear wheel isn’t original and those blue forks don’t look like Ducati either. The chassis with the headlight is a “square style” 250 Monza or 350 Sebring, probably the former since it doesn’t have the second lever bracket on the clutch perch for the valve lifter lever employed on the 350 motors. I’m only seeing the rear half of the tank so can’t tell what to make of it. Some early bikes had mounts for parcel racks like those on your tank. A full size pic would help. Also, if you can list all the engine numbers, including the “DMXXX” and which side case it’s located on, goes a long way in identification. MW
