and sandblasted the engine parts
I hope that you are able to give every little orifice a thorough clean, so as to remove ALL TRACES of the blasting medium!

I too had a pair of crankcases vapour blasted and after receiving them back, found that all the threaded holes, oilways and nooks and crannies still had traces of impacted blasting medium in them! Inspite of having been assured that the cases had been thoroughly cleaned after the blasting process. It then took the best part of 8 hours to pick out the impacted medium, then using an airline at 80 psi to blast everything through, until no medium appeared to remain. I then hot detergent washed the cases and yet more medium appeared, so repeated the process, with clean water flushing, a further 5 times before the water ran clean! I am still wary of there being the odd stray bit of blasting media in the cases.

Previously, I have always just cleaned everything down with paraffin, then brake cleaner, before hot detergent washes until the water ran clear. A lot cheaper and less stressful than medium blasting, regardless of the media used.
Good health, BillR
