350 scrambler restoration

Postby Dave354 » Wed Mar 05, 2025 6:50 pm

Hi, in my many You Tube rabbits holes I have come across a series of videos which among many other bike and car related projects is the total restoration of a 350 wide case scrambler, in some fabulous detail. It’s all in Italian and I can only get the jist of the commentary but for anyone undertaking such a rebuild or similar project it was really useful ( I wish I had found it earlier!).

The videos are quite short and you need to select them individually…..

Hmm, very sketchy engine wise, he skips any detail of bevel shimming after detailed fitting of the bevel bearings (fairly obvious!). His crank locking leaves much to be desired using the clutch holding tool through the gears. I suspect he won't have the correct torque on the crank nut. Was amused in a couple videos where he installs the crank the wrong way around! What's with the use of gaskets and liberal use of sealant?? For the engine there's probably better information in the Manual.

Regards Nigel
