I have a question regarding the external tach drive mechanism as used with 175 and other narrow case tach covers. Are they all the same, in so far as will each fit into a stock 175 cover, or are there differences between drives that make them cover specific ?
I have (not in my hand but on its way) what i think is a really nice 175 tach cover, but no drive. I have a brass external drive mechanism from an early bevel twin, and am wondering if it could be made to work with the cover.
Any knowledge, advice, experience shared, greatly appreciated.
Happy New Year to all

Re: 175 and other n/c tach drive
Hello Jim
I'm fairly sure the Bevel twin gears rotate in the opposite direction (worm in the other direction). Otherwise I think all the early single drives are the same length. Although some aftermarket drive boxes need the drive tang shortening. Beware aftermarket drive boxes some are horribly out of line, beyond the widget wiggle.
Regards Nigel
