Narrow Case Tool Kit

Postby Moto Chuck » Mon Mar 13, 2023 4:09 pm

I am putting together a tool kit for a 250 Narrow Case bike. (250 Mk III)
The parts manual says there is a "Socket spanner 21mm and inner hex nut (Allen) 14mm. I have found the application for all of the other wrenches listed, but can't find where a 21mm Wrench or 14mm allen wrench would fit. The fork caps take a 12mm Allen wrench. The axle nuts ar 19mm & 22mm.

So is there something I need to have a 21mm wrench and a 14mm Allen wrench for?? I don't want to carry around a lot of unneeded tools but also don't want to get caught out on the road.

Mort

Edit: Okay, I figured out that a 13/16" spark plug is 21mm, but I still cant find an application for a 14mm Allen Wrench.

Does the plug on left side in line with the end of the crankshaft have a 14mm internal hexagon? I only take it out when I want to fit a timing disc.

On mine, the oil filler/level plug is the same size as the spark plug. One tool for 2 jobs!

The box/hex tool is for the oil filler/spark plug and the hex plug on the primary drive cover. As Ian says.

Thanks guys! Not sure why I would want to remove the hex plug on the primary drive cover.

Since this will not be OEM tools I am more concerned with having the necessary tools required for minor breakdowns on the road than exactly replicating the factory tool kit. I will be including a pair of small pliers even though there was none in the factory kit. Haven't decided about a tire patch kit yet.

Most important are a half a dozen cable ties and a roll of gaffer tape ...

Neither of which were, of course, included in the original tool kit ;) .
