Mach 1 style tank to fit a narrow case 250

Postby JohnBR » Thu Jan 12, 2023 1:55 pm

Does anyone have a Mach 1 style tank for a NC frame that they are willing to sell or is there any reliable source for these as I only seem to be able to find the Indian made ones for WC frame. UK based. Thanks

Andy at 'The Bevel Side of Life' has a NOS tank for sale on his web site. Go to the select box, choose 'spare parts' and scroll down past the Pantah stuff. He wants 335 euros - I don't know if that is good or not.

Thanks, I found it and have gone for it as any other options seem limited, I have to hope the cost to import is not too much ;)

Andy is a top guy to deal with (I don't know if you have dealt with him before?) and he has a lot of stuff. I have bought some used parts from him at very reasonable prices too.

Fingers crossed that the tank is a good 'un.

I placed my order for the tank and Andy contacted me to let me know that the tank was not in as good condition as he first thought so offered it to me at a reduced price, which I accepted. I have to say thanks for your recommendation and fully agree that Andy is one of the good guys.

If that’s a genuine Mach 1 tank, the 335 Euro price is a bargain. Genuine Mach 1 tanks used to sell for $1000 USD plus.

The Mach 1 tank has a very rough indent on the bottom right-hand side so the Del’Orto SSI29’s velocity stack doesn’t hit the tank and restrict the tank from sitting properly on the frame.

Even if it’s not the Mach 1 tank but rather the identically shaped tank without the indent, the price is still good. I use that same tank on a 250 narrow-case with a Mikuni carb (hence no conflict.)

In my opinion it’s one of the absolute best shaped Ducati tanks, arguably bested only by the “jelly mold” tank.

Received the tank from Andy, its in good sound condition no rust inside or out some minor marks in the paintwork, no dents and included were petrol taps and badges so I am very pleased apart from the import costs, perhaps Brexit wasn't such a good idea ;) . Just need to find a way of attaching and mounting the rear of tank NC frame.
