Re: no kickback electronic ignition for 250?
I had this problem with my 350 Scrambler. It kicked back so violently that I was afraid to try starting it. I installed an automatic ignition and a compression release which it didn't have. With the help of people on this forum, I learned the proper technique for starting. The machine now starts within the first few kicks without kickbacks. The automatic ignition should eliminate any chances that the ignition will be too advanced and the compression release brings the piston just past TDC before kicking. I don't think that a 250 comes with a compression release. Probably not needed.

I recently installed an Electrex Digital CDI Ignition + Alternator from Nigel @ Lacey Ducati on a 450 Desmo but one that is currently running a springer head and without any decompressor. I've had no problem with kickbacks at all and it starts easily but I am following the recommended method and it obviously requires a firm kick.

Did that involve finding out what the timing was?

Thanks and no, I haven't checked the timing yet. Things move fairly slowly around here.
be nice, I'm not very bright.
