I have a fibre-glass tank on a project bike.
I'm thinking a practical solution to chemical damage from fuel might be to cut the complete bottom out and make a metal container that fits under the upper part.
Visually I think it could be quite discreet.

I cut the bottom out of a fg tank and re glassed it with vinyl ester resin. Then lined it with Bill Hirsch tank liner.
That was many years ago.
So far all good.
I will add that if it sits for a long winter I drain the fuel in the tank and carb.
