450RT cable routing

Postby Gboblebeef » Thu Aug 13, 2020 8:22 pm

Howdy folks,
I'm looking for the correct routing of the decompression cable on my 450RT. The obvious rout seems odd as it pokes the cable way out from the engine. I looked at google images for a bit but can't see the details when I blow up the images. Any pictures or insight is appriciated.

I had the same problem. So I routed the cable through the cylinder fins and behind the bevel tower. Then attached the cable from the rear of the plunger. I use bog standard bicycle brake housing (of which I have probably 50 meters) so, yes, the heat from the cylinder will do a number on the outer casing of the cable. But it's hardly visible and the decomp lever works just fine and there isn't a cable sticking way out on the right side of the bike. All that said, I race my RT in AHRMA MX and that decomp assembly sits in a precarious spot. It could easily get snapped off on a tumble. So if you have the option, try and crash on the left side of the bike.

I can post a pic shortly.
