Serial Number Location

Postby gregwils » Tue Aug 13, 2019 5:18 pm

I was interested in purchasing a used case on eBay. The photos have me scratching my head. The sequential serial number is not on the points/chain side of the case, they appear to be on the alternator/starter side. Would it be at all common for the to be swapped?

The serial number on the left side case indicates that this is an early 4-speed transmission case.
