sprocket carrier/cush drive/flange

Postby Teckhardt » Wed Aug 25, 2010 6:46 pm

Question about the wheel flange that the sprocket is bolted to on one side and has the cush drive rubber on the other.

I have two different versions of them. First one is from a 250/350 based on the parts diagram. It has one bearing held in by a c-clip and a rubber seal. The second version is the one came on my 450. It has two bearings with a spacer between and no c-clip or rubber seal. Other than the bearing difference, they are identical. All other parts are the same.

So the question is if the 450 version is better or stronger for the 450 motor.

I have two complete sets of hubs. I was going to leave my orginal stock ones unaltered/unrestored. The other set I was going to have polished then laced up by Buchannan (more on this later).

Just a guess that the 450 scrambler's used the dust cover as oppose to the c-clips. Part numbers for the hub and spacers are the same (As I htink you pointed out). However, the front hub for the 450 is unique, in that it has 12 ribs inside compared to the 8 for the other 250/350 front hubs.

Correct on all accounts. My only concern is that the 450 carrier uses two bearings where the 250 only uses one.

I also have am extra 12 fin front hub. Was hard to find.
