Happy New Year!
I am attempting to adjust the original, Aprilia brake light switch on a Monza Junior. The extension spring from the brake pedal fails to pull the plunger far enough to close the circuit. However, the switch is in good working condition and will activate by directly pulling the plunger 5-6 mm. What is the best way to adjust these switches?
I appreciate any advice or recommendations.
Thanks,
Jeff

Shorten the spring?.

Re: rear brake switch adjustment
These bikes are basic. As mentioned in the previous post, the best bet is to try a different spring or swap out switches to see if you might have one that activates sooner. Not many other options.

Clean the plunger on the switch and light lube, reduce drag on spring.

Re: rear brake switch adjustment
Thanks for the recommendations. I'll try shortening the extension spring to increase spring rate until the system functions. My other thought was to increase preload by moving the switch rearward on the bracket by installing another jam nut. I was just wondering if I was missing something basic.

I would take the switch apart and clean/lube it. It probably needs to be pulled too hard or far because it’s dirty/worn

Re: rear brake switch adjustment
Just to close the loop on this subject, the brake switch adjustment was accomplished with the slotted holes in the mounting bracket. I was missing the obvious... I'd still prefer the light to activate a little earlier in the travel but at least the setup now works.
Thanks for the help,
Jeff
