heavy clutch

The clutch is heavy on my 250 scrambler any tips on how to make it lighter to use.I seem to recall someone suggesting fitting 3 lighter and 3 standard springs.

Heavy clutch action can be caused by the clutch cable, if it's dry of lubricant, or has too much of tight bends.
It's better for it to have smooth curves with big arcs.
250/350 don't have particularly heavy clutches. The 450 has stronger springs.

Even 450's aren't heavy.
As Jordan said, the routing of the cable is the first place to look.
Lube with light machine oil.
Then look at the clutch basket and steel plates for burs and notches.
The clutch actuating arm that the cable connects to for wear or lack of lubrication.
The balls and pushrods from actuating arm to pressure plate are clean and lubricated

Another vote for checking and lubing the cable before screwing with the clutch basket. Clutch won't be as light as modern hydraulic clutches but should not be that much harder.

narrow or widecase scrambler ?

the narrowcases have a very short actuating arm . on the widecases they made the arm longer .

you could use a wc arm if you make a slot in the case

The longer arms on the widecase bikes makes a huge difference. My 450 clutch is nice and smooth, but my 250 NC clutch was not. Worn parts, too much play, dirty dry cable, it all adds up. Eliminate all the excess play in the system. Your clutch arm and lever likely need bushings fit. Once I went through mine and adjusted everything just right it was WAY better, but still not as nice as a widecase. Aaron
