Anyone know how to remove a Neiman lock mechanism on a 450? I removed the pin and faceplate came off easily. I had though the mechanism would just pull right out but something seems to be keeping it in place.

Yes I did it on my 450 when I restored mine. I did not have a key for mine and I found someone selling them pretty cheap for BMW's , same lock on them. I followed the #3 procedure on this link, it will tell you everything you need to know. If you have the key you're set but if not you will have to take the forks off. but it's easy otherwise. You can see in the picture of the lock the small pin on the side that holds it in.

I used that same link and was able to drill mine out and replace with a new Neiman lock.

Success. I drilled out the lock and installed a NOS unit. The new unit works nicely. Here's a few pics.
