I'm looking for replacement indicator light bulbs for my 1970 250 Ducati Scrambler. They are the "ignition on" light and the "high beam on" light bulbs for the original 6 volt system.
Anyone who knows where I may find them, please let me know.
It has been awhile since I've posted. Progress on my Ducati restoration is coming along. The engine is running and on the bike. We are having some issues with the wiring. We found out recently that the regulator is bad and needs to be replaced or rebuilt. I hope to have all things completed by sometime in June, so I can enjoy the nice weather here in the NE US.
Thanks,
Art Smith

" I'm looking for replacement indicator light bulbs "
____ Your wording leads me (for one) to assume that you wish to acquire mere light-bulbs for your existing indicator-lamps. _ So if you actually happen to be rather seeking indicator-lamps complete with bulbs, then you should make that distinction more clear.
" We are having some issues with the wiring. We found out recently that the regulator is bad and needs to be replaced or rebuilt. "
____ The w-c.type rect/reg.units are known to go-bad somewhat easily (when allowed to continue running for long after either battery-lead somehow becomes disconnected after the engine has been started-up). _ Otherwise, those stock Ducati R/R.units are fairly reliable.
__ However many who know how to check the condition of a relatively common/ordinary rectifier., can be fooled with the w-c.unit,, cuz the normally done ohm-meter testing-procedure will indicate that the Ducati-unit has (seemingly) developed 'opened' rectifiers.
So if your unit wasn't first turned-on with an adequately charged 6v.battery, then it would've tested-out as "bad" (even-though it may actually still be good).
____ If yours really is indeed bad though, it's pretty-certain that it can't be rebuilt to 'regulate' as original.
However it's quite possible to install replacement power-diodes within the unit and everything will function well enough, so long as the headlight is left turned-on during extended periods running at high-RPM. _ Otherwise (with the headlight left turned-off), you'd then need to employ a toggle-switch or relay-unit (to keep the battery from getting overcharged).
__ If your stock R/R.unit really is bad, then I'll instruct you on how to get-by with just a pair of power-diodes.
Hopeful-Cheers,
-Bob

PLEASE NOTE... If this-post is not-yet signed-off with '-Bob', then I'm still in the process of completing it,, and if not also included with 'DCT' near bottom as well, then I may edit this post's wording at a later time. - Dct.Bob

Hi Art,
They're not hard to find from specialist suppliers; but obviously you need to be precise about what you're looking for! And that may depend on whether you have the original holders or not. But, with that proviso:
1. The 'High Beam' bulb should look like this:

In which case what you want is a 6 volt x 1.2 watt (or less) bulb with a BA7S base and dimensions of 7mm diameter and 20mm long. The BA7S is the important bit 'cos it describes the type of fitting - BA is bayonet, 7 is the diameter, S is single bayonet. Do a Google search under that, and you'll find a choice of suppliers.
2. The 'Ignition' light (it's actually just a 'Key is installed' light, as Bob will tell you ...

These are known as Festoon bulbs and the specification for yours should be 6 volt x 1.5 watt x 6mm (diameter) x 29mm long.
