Is there a difference with the advance on the red box (transducer?) from an early twin to the ones fitted to a 450?
I assume the 250 and 350 transducers are different to the 450?
Does anyone have the numbers for each of these if they are different?

Graeme,
According to the 860 parts manual the transducer is a ducati electonica 323904, which is the same as what was in my 450 before i replaced the setup with an Electrex one.

Thinks Kev,
I thought the 860 ones were the same, but I assume the 2 and 350 ones are different due to the greater advance compared to a 250?

Re: Ducati Electronica Red Box
Graeme, the red ‘transducer’ is the CDI unit, and is the same unit for both bikes. It doesn’t have any advance changes built in. On both the V twins and the later singles, the advance changes are in the trigger units.
The 450 has a mechanical advance and the V twins have two pick-ups, one idle and one advance.
Sorry brain fade set in.
The later CDI singles had that magnetic speed advance. Should have had points.

Re: Ducati Electronica Red Box
The part number for 2/3/450 "transducer" (red CDI unit including capacitor and coil) is 0616.46.303
And, for the 860 it's the same part number, quantity 2.
That's a nice thing about old Ducatis - they didn't invent new numbers for the same part then, which makes life easier for us.
The pick up doesn't change for the different sized single engines 0616.46.200 (for the one made by Ducati for Ducati).
