Postby Paddy » Sun Aug 04, 2013 8:58 pm

Looking at my speedo drive i think its not fully on the hub.... 250NC 180mm drum.drive in hub

If you mean the housing that the cable is attached to, on a WC it's threaded to the brake back plate.
There's a hexagon to use a spanner on.

Sorry about the huge picture but i have not worked out how to re size here

You can see the steel worm drive, is not flush with the bearing housing
The gap behind the steel part is about the same as the overhang at the front so i think it needs to go further on , just checking with you guys its just a push fit before i apply pressure ?

The driving skew gear is a press fit on the hub, and it looks to be not fully pressed home in your photo.
There are chisel marks on the hub (a puller would have been better) that are evidence the gear was up against the face near the marks.
Heat would work against you in this case, as it'd make the fit tighter due to aluminium hub expanding more than steel gear.

Thanks , I will see if i can press it on. As the bearing is out it might go and just collapse the bearing housing a few thou, if not i will try and get it off in a slightly more efficient way than the last guy with his chisel and heat it and try and freeze the hub .
