Hi Everyone,
I've got kind of a dumb idea that I just may be acting on. I'd like to build a Ducati 200cc road racer for AHRMA 200gp competition. I know the thing will be outclassed by the Honda's and Yam's, but it's cool, I just want to build and ride a small Ducati on track. I've got a spare 200cc 4psd motor, but was reading an old article by WCBR (West Coast British Racing) about their 200cc road racer. They sleeved down a 250cc narrow case motor in order to build a 5 spd. Sounds like an interesting idea. Has anyone heard of this? My initial thought is heat dissipation with a thick steel liner. Thoughts?
Thanks!
-Gabe

If you coat the top of the piston, most heat should be dissipated by the head \ header.. (you can also get the head inner coated)
sound fun though! i'm thinking as well as making a racing one, but staying 250...

you could try talking to Bore Tech, or a similar place closer to you. they do cylinder boring, honing, lining and piston coatings.
they seem to mostly focus on racing hondas now, but I was told the owner, Bill used to be involved in racing Ducatis.

you could also talk to Malcolme at Syd's Cycles. I don't think there is anyone that has been involved in racing Ducatis longer than him.
they could do the modification to your head to match the smaller bore.
