Re: 175TS with 125S engine project

When Nigel supplied replacement bevel tube he also supplied bearing housing with oversized diameter. Have had a measure up and will get this machined to suit.

Re: 175TS with 125S engine project

While waiting for rebore and new conrod fitted I have attempted to set up Mototrans head bevel gears. I still cannot see how this can work and would appreciate any help to understand set up. I have added a sketch to help explain my problem. The recess in the top tube flange is deeper than the lip on...

Re: Strada Camshaft Oil Ways

Hi Craig, It's clear that I have a major oil leak from the cambox, mainly from all three oil union bolts (I fitted new annealed copper washers) the top of the bevel tube flange and the camshaft end cap. I am wondering if the oil way to the top end on Italian bikes has a restrictor in it, and that M...

Re: Strada Camshaft Oil Ways

"It is almost certainly fuel starvation, the engine fires every kick and runs for thirty seconds, then dies. Looks like a carb off job and I will not be doing that in this heat." Shame but sure you will work it out. Possibly stating the obvious but as the inside of tank was rusty first thi...

Re: 175TS with 125S engine project

Thanks for replies piston two oil rings. My Moto Guzzi 125 single from the 1960s also had two oil rings maybe an Italian design for those times. As pistons have run for many years with two rings I am going to fit both, why change what works.

Re: 175TS with 125S engine project

I forgot to mention that sludge trap screws were not very tight, easily undone with screwdriver, is this normal. Any advice is welcome.

Re: 175TS with 125S engine project

The crankcases are split. Cleaned bearing cage bits, piston ring parts and lots of alli pieces from sump! Oil like tar and oil filter lying at bottom of sump. Sludge traps and crank oilways blocked solid with dry carbon and alli. particles causing oil starvation. All new bearings, bushes and conrod ...
