Re: Strada Camshaft Oil Ways

Hello George, I have some points bits. Not sure what they are from originally. What exactly are you looking for ? Graeme Hi Graeme I don't want to hijack Colin's post and will move this thread to my restoration post http://www.motoscrubs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2963 I am in UK so postage ...

Re: Strada Camshaft Oil Ways

I've just fitted a K&N pod filter and removed the filter box - what a heavy, large lump! Which has left a nice open space behind the engine to give access for maintenance. Hopefully the weather will allow me a road test to see if things are any better. I may throw caution (and a chunk of my pen...

Re: Bevel gear top bearing housing

I am new to Ducati but will try to give my idea of how top bevel housing is assembled. I believe that Mototrans are different assembly to Italian models. Looking at my drawing it would seem that housing is held in place by light push fit in head with no positive stop to head. Thrust from bevel gear ...

Re: Bevel gear top bearing housing

Fitting a distance piece between bottom of recess and bearing outer will push housing up to far and interfere with bevel gears. If you are going to fit spacer it will have to be between top of housing lip and head. I would advise that you put bevel shims equal either side of bearing inner fit to hea...

Re: Bevel gear top bearing housing

The Mototrans 125 has a different design to the 250. The recess in the bevel tunnel is greater than the lip on the housing and will not grip with or without gasket. I posted a sketch on my restoration posts, easier to understand if you have a look.

Re: 175TS with 125S engine project

I am going to fit bush to clutch arm. With regards to the broken drift pin the only answer I can think of is to grind it out with Dremel diamond point. Half way down before tool wore out will order two more. I won't be using drift pin replacement but think of some other way of securing shaft. This i...

Re: Bevel gear top bearing housing

I had the same problem with my Mototrans 125 and after much discussion on this forum came to the conclusion that housing is a poor design with no positive lock to head. I am having a bearing housing made with a deeper outside lip. The idea is that this lip will lock between bevel tunnel and head and...

Re: 175TS with 125S engine project

George, you had a lucky escape there! Most people (including me) would have waited until the engine was back in the frame before fitting the gearbox sprocket. Hopefully it will be all plain sailing from now on. Pleased with progress. Thought I would have a tidy up before starting next stage. That's...

Re: Strada Camshaft Oil Ways

Engine not reving perhaps main jet is to small. Would need to do open throttle plug chop to confirm. Another clue is to ride at full throttle and back off small amount, if engine picks up main jet is to small.

Re: 175TS with 125S engine project

Interesting couple of days rebuilding engine. Crankshaft end float adjusted to nil float. Bottom bevels shimmed without to much trouble. Thinking this is easier than expected time to fit gears. Split crankcases added gears every thing turned OK gears selected with ease, crank cases bolted up, gears ...
