Re: Friction Damper

Just re-read your first post. Wow, that sounds a bit unusual. So the ends, or at least one of the ends, of your steering stem are sealed off? Picture please :)

Re: Friction Damper

My 350 Scrambler does have the friction damper, and it is shown in my parts book for the 350 Scrambler too.
Somebody deemed it unnecessary in the past and removed it perhaps??

Re: Engine Mount Bolts

Hi there, As for the nylock nuts not locking, how about low profile nuts? They are about 1/2 the height of the regular nuts. I'm not a big fan of stainless bolts, the threads are quite brittle and they can crossthread easier than steel, but, they do look nice! Now Titanium bolts, they would be cool....

Re: 350 Scrambler Project - Vancouver, Canada

Ok, so I'm pulling bits off the frame to prep it for stripping, and I find that the bearing cups and races for the steering are shot. Totally shot. Would you, A: Put new bits back on of the same design, or, B: Buy a taper bearing kit and fit that? I still haven't managed to get my bevel drive gear t...

Re: Green White Cam

Go figure, in New Zealand, where I hail from originally, we would never call a motorbike a motorcycle. It was always either a motorbike, or a bike. Usually bike if you were talking amongst friends, motorbike if you were explaining something to someone. Nothing to do with Harley's as they are soooooo...

Re: Green White Cam

Ok, I remeasured everything this morning on the cam. I measured on the edge as well as in the middle. The cam really needs a clean up with scotchbrite, but I'll do that later. I have noticed some numbers on the unmachined area next to the lobes. There is the number three followed by a dot then the n...

Re: Green White Cam

Right then. Here are the measurements for my cam: Base Circle = 21.08mm Intake = 30.75mm, 9.67mm lift Exhaust = 29.39mm, 8.31mm lift From the limited cam data I have, it falls into the range for a Green/White cam. There seems to be quite a range of measurements for the G/W cams. I'm sure with a bit ...

Re: Green White Cam

Well...... went down to Home Depot and bought an 18Volt DeWalt cordless Impact Driver. All my other power tools are 18V DeWaltm so this way I get another charger and a couple extra battery packs. This thing packs quite a punch! The nut took a bit of work, but it finally let go and spun off the camsh...

Re: Green White Cam

Hi Bob, Thanks for the instructions :) Somebody has been in this head before. The lock tab has been used more than once by the look of it. Alas, whoever put the cam in last time, did so really really tightly!! My file broke into 3 pieces, so I found a piece of iron to put in there in its place. Even...
