Re: First Ducati

I recommend Tom Bailey’s books. First Person has loads of information.

Re: Introduction and question about Diana Sprocket Flange (Carrier)

Hey Robert, Wow, what a great find. Good for you as you have a very early, very rare Diana. I might suggest you buy Tom Bailey’s books as he has some great insight into different approaches for restoration. There are links to his site from mine (coolitalianbikes). I did a frame-up Reston on my early...

Re: 1965 Ducati 250 Mark III - Diana?

My reason for thinking it was a 4-speed is that all the info I have suggest 5-speed engine numbers started 9xxxx and 4-speed engines are 8xxxx. The other reason is that the 4-speed DM250 stamp is on the shifter side and for 5-speed the DM250 stamp is on the kicker side. Anthony's engine has the DM25...

Re: 1965 Ducati 250 Mark III - Diana?

Here's a pic of my 1963 250 MK3 with. 27A SSI carb. The asymmetrical tank is required to get the clearance required for the SSI carb to fit. The other photo is a side by side of the 250 Diana and 250 Diana MK3 tanks. The non MK-3 Diana has a UBF24 carb and does not require the asymmetry to fit. MK3 ...

Re: 4-speed 250 Mark 3 tach holder

Thanks Karsten. I'll see if I can make a couple of these. I'll have to eyeball it, but I am sur I can get close.

4-speed 250 Mark 3 tach holder

Anyone have a template for the Veglia tach holder for a Diana Mark 3? This is the one that is centered between the fork tubes, that was on the 4-speed Mark 3 and I believe similar to the F3. Thanks.

Re: Dellorto SS1 27 A or D ?

Hey Aaron, you are right. I did not look as closely as you did. I do see the 1964 250 Mark 3 pages after the SCR both SSI 27A. The head is also different for the 1964, maybe in 1965 was when they went to larger valves? Interesting.

Mark3kb, when is the engine serial number ? Just curious. Tony

Re: Dellorto SS1 27 A or D ?

Aaron, which parts book its that? I don't think I have it. The page says 1964, so it could be a 4-speed Mark 3 or early 5-speed? Can you scan the first couple of pages and email them to tony@coolitalianbikes.com? I poked around a little more and the answer is both A and D are correct for narrow case...

Re: Dellorto SS1 27 A or D ?

According to the parts book, SSD is the correct carb. But who knows?
