Re: Narrow Case AC vs DC coil

The primary coil is between the 2 battery posts- probably marked '1' and '15', and the secondary is between one end of the primary and the spark plug output. The battery '+' usually goes to '15', so measure the primary between '1' and '15' and the secondary between '15' and the spark plug output. De...

Re: Mach 1/Mark 3 front fender info

David- I'll attach a drawing of the profile of a fender I believe to be a Mach1- I didn't buy the bike new and keep an eye on it ever since, but it looks correct to me- no guarantees. Fenders I've seen all have the front edge turned- without the turned lip the edge would be really fragile- the lip g...

Re: Tweaky Beast History

You're the right owner for that motorcycle- lots of people would have ignored it as a mongrel 'bitsa'- have fun with it.

Re: Reground desmo cam

I'd say you're right to question the workmanship. They may have used a probe to digitize points on the cam, and then just drawn straight lines between the points instead of interpolating a curve, or they might have good data on the profile and their software broke the nice curve into small segments-...

Re: Introduction and question about Diana Sprocket Flange (Carrier)

Robert, Blue Dianas are rare, you're lucky to have one. Both of the sprocket carriers you linked to appear to be intact to me- not very good photos, but the collar you're concerned about looks to be OK in both of the parts. Your 1962 Diana probably came with the sprocket carrier that didn't have the...

Re: Choke madness

I just looked at your photo again, and the base on the left is countersunk, so it must mate to the dished cover, second from the left, and the round head screw, second from the left, so, it's a guess- it looks like the second from the left base might be the best match, but it looks worn or modified-...

Re: Choke madness

Can't offer much help, but I'll attach a photo I found somewhere on the web, maybe an auction, but I noted that it was supposed to be an original 51 miles bike, and it was called a Daytona, which might be the same as a UK Diana. It looks like it has the rounded nose on the casting, like the 2 on the...

Re: 175TS top end stripdown

Ranton(?)- Lots of rocker arm spindles have a helical oil groove, so if the shaft is smooth and a good fit I wouldn't worry about it. It may be distorted perspective from the photo, but it looks like the valve end of your rocker arm isn't centered on the valve stem end- the rocker arm should be shim...

Re: Heavily butchered 350 scrambler

Your frame is a mess, if you're interested, I have a wide case scrambler frame to match your wide case engine, with a tank, forks, etc, and I also have a RT450 frame, forks, tank, seat, fenders, headlight, 21" front wheel, etc- pretty much complete, and I live in Sioux Falls- send me a PM if yo...
