Re: A "different" Ducati.

That little 49cc engine launched a small electronics firm into a premier high performance motorcycle manufacturing firm.

Therein lies the beauty of that clip-on engine for me: it was an unassuming seed that spawned the most beautiful motorcycles ever designed.

Re: Converting my 1965 scrambler 250 6v to 12v

Hi Jim, What are you hoping to gain with a 12-volt system that you aren’t already getting with your 6-volt system? You could run a 12-volt ignition system, but if you are looking to operate modern 12-volt Halogen or incandescent lighting you will likely have insufficient power available. We can talk...

Re: Dellorto SSI 29D Restoration

Wow, it's like you just pulled it out of a sealed box from the 1960s.

It's a beautiful carb, thanks for sharing.

Re: Best way to clean an internally rusty MK3 tank?

I used the electrolysis method on an MV Agusta tank. It really works, Very clean and easy. I'm not talking about the acid cleaning, I did the soda cleaning using a automotive battery charger. The local hardware store had the soda, and I used an allen key for the electrode. There are plenty of video'...

Re: Discharging battery strada

is your battery draining when the ignition is on or off? If only when the ignition is on your battery drain might be normal. On my 250 with stock DC ignition wiring (not an AC ignition) when the points are closed the path of amperage is from the battery through the coil (a very low resistance becaus...

Re: Guzzino petcocks and fuel lines

Thanks for the advice guys. I placed my order with Guzzino and their green 6x10 fuel line did indeed fit the 7mm petcock.

Guzzino petcocks and fuel lines

I have a 750 Ducati twin that needs a new petcock and fuel lines. The Guzzino petcock #DOM83308FV matches what I am replacing, but it says it has a 7mm hose fitting. When I look at new hose to buy, they offer no 7mm hose, rather they have 6 and 8mm hose for sale. I presume the hose sizes refer to th...

Re: Air filter woes

In the US, this air filter is available from NAPA auto parts stores for USD $17.50. Crankcase Ventilation Filter (Gold) Part #: FIL 2719 I find it fits my round Del'Orto air box perfectly (pictured in my initial reply). I seem to recall using it in my widecase's 'toolbox' air-filter housing (like th...

Is this the round air filter box that you are referring to?

I know of an automotive air filter that fits that can perfectly. I’ll look up the part number tonight.

Re: Cosmetic repair of a vintage SAFA battery?

Hi Graeme, Yes, there was someone selling battery boxes that looked something like the 3L3, but I am not sure if they were simply the commonly available molded battery cases with a SAFA sticker attached, or it they were sized and formed including the vertical textures to copy the real thing. With an...
