Re: Narrowcase head bearings

I was always taught to fill the race with as many balls as it would take with the cone seated, and then take one out.

Re: Location for external oil lines

Re: Location for external oil lines

I have experimented with both external cam feed and oil drain pipes over a number of years on quite a few bevel single engines, (as a precursor to my comments below, I need to point out that on all my engines I modify the timing case bronze crankshaft end oil feed bush to take a rubber lip oil seal ...

Re: yellow 250 desmo front brake pads

I guess I will just have to try out some different pads and see what results I get re. the feel aspect, I think I'm happy enough with the master cylinder brake caliper set up I have for the moment....( I spent enough money on it for now! ) I was particularly fussy with the caliper which has a full b...

Re: yellow 250 desmo front brake pads

Hi Matt, Thanks for your reply, It is my understanding (rightly or wrongly ??? ) that all disc brake yellow desmo singles came standard with a twin bleed nipple " halo" logo PO8 brembo L.H. front caliper.......certainly that's what's on mine (and mine is an original spec. uk bike), the ori...

yellow 250 desmo front brake pads

Hi all, Anyone got real life experience on best make and/or grade of brake pads for my 250 desmo disc, I currently have 'new' ferodo road pads installed with about 200 miles of bedding in, stops ok but the brake seems to lack bite ( I am not using the standard master cylinder, but a brand new 12mm b...

Re: Conrod kits ?

Hi Eldert, Not trying to hijack this thread.....but.....do you have experience of the rod kits from 'the ducati vintage store' it seems unclear (to me) if these kits are genuine ducati or a re-manufactured copy, you mention a little machining required ?? would you use one of these in a hard used roa...

Re: checking engine oil pressure

I always remove the left hand camshaft bearing housing by removing the camshaft nut and then using the cam itself as a drift for a couple of millimeters of travel to dislodge the left side cover, so the slug in the oil way of the cam (for me) is not a problem, I never had great results using the rod...

Re: checking engine oil pressure

Hi, Same as Nigel, I have never knowingly ran a ducati single engine desmo or springer without doing the restriction slug mod on the bevel end of the camshaft.....it just makes sense to force the oil through the working/rubbing areas of the cam instead of giving it an easy path out at the bevel end,...

Re: 250 noisy top end

If it were me, I would run the engine until it was at least a little warm and then drop the engine oil into a clean drain pan, look for any metal sparkles in the oil.....if the oil is clean......well that's a good sign that things are maybe ok.....but.....if there is ANY metal in the oil take the he...
