Re: 175TS in UK

I suspect you have the 40 watt alternator. It will likely work ok for daylight use. With a new battery and minimal night time running with poor lighting you could go for years like that. I did. If you ride in areas with good streetlights some bright LED low consumption bulbs may make you more visabl...

Re: Very low charge rate 250 NC 60w converted to 12v

I am currently (!!) running a special 35/40 watt halogen bulb from Norbsa (Goffy) in a 130 mm headlamp that's really meant for tungsten bulbs plus an electronic points assist unit from Pazon so I am pushing the limits. probably a good idea to put in a low consumption Bright LED pilot and tail and st...

Re: Very low charge rate 250 NC 60w converted to 12v

Hi Jim, the bike has been no trouble electrically for 10 years since I did the 12v mods, including 4 ten day riding holidays in the IOM when I usually rode with daytime lights for safety. This last year though I ran with the lights off and kept the revs up to just keep going. Something has changed ,w...

Re: Very low charge rate 250 NC 60w converted to 12v

I intend to do a few more tests with the motor running and am also thinking of fitting a voltmeter so I can monitor whats happening as I ride. Have to keep it simple as I never did understand the Ducati electrics in the headlamp. Happily the charge system does not go there at all.

Re: Very low charge rate 250 NC 60w converted to 12v

Hi Hans, I think I have gone a bit too far with power use and looking at "BOBS" graphs the load appears to drive the output down due to the odd way the coils work when connected in series. I have a modern RR and a good 12v battery.

Re: Very low charge rate 250 NC 60w converted to 12v

That would appear to be the quick solution, however with my history of flops with new aftermarket products (50% failure at least) ,I will retain original stuff until absolutely sure its dud. Am considering LED but bike is pos earth with small 130 mm headlight crammed full already. Don't ride at nigh...

Re: Very low charge rate 250 NC 60w converted to 12v

I have been off bikes for a series of operations ,Back into sorting out the electrics. The battery seems to lose its charge out of use faster than expected, Did a resistance check on the disconnected battery leads and they read 26K . Don't know if that's significant Not really fit enough to start th...

Re: 175TS Fork Strip Question

The Mudguard should not pull or push the legs and may need bending or shimming with washers. The damper balls that live in the bottom of the legs were displaced on my forks and bits of them were getting in the way of the fork action. Replacement axles are not always machined correctly. If you are go...
