Re: 175TS in UK

if you still have a few drips ,this can be from the sprocket area. There is a small machining that allows some oil to escape to be spun off and get to the chain . If the oil level is a bit high you can get leaks from this area and the clutch pushrod .

Re: Cleaning the crankshaft of widecase engine

The motor does hold onto its old oil. I tip it over to the right side and then prop the back of the bike up to get the oil down into the sump.I also have a magnet on a wire that I work around the sump. If you study some photos of the case inereds you will see that oil can be trapped.

Re: Long time no type, Desmo conversion update

I have a head with the inlet valve boss removed and the likelihood that the guide will come loose again sooner or later. Was thinking of using Devcon to build up some support around the guide and maybe "D" shape the port floor a bit. Road use only. Seems a good idea?.

Re: crankcase wont split

I once watched Vic Camps mechanic strip a motor at a race meeting. He worked really fast in order to split the cases while the motor was still hot from running. Put it in an oven.

Re: 175TS in UK

I suspect you have the 40 watt alternator. It will likely work ok for daylight use. With a new battery and minimal night time running with poor lighting you could go for years like that. I did. If you ride in areas with good streetlights some bright LED low consumption bulbs may make you more visabl...
